Hi! I’m Helen, a UK based illustrator, specialising in fashion portraits.

I grew up in a very creative household and spent much of my childhood visiting my mams art studio whilst she was doing her Fine Art degree. With her encouragement and guidance I experimented in many areas of art and design including sculpture, painting, product design and sewing. I was naturally drawn to working from the human anatomy, whether that be medical style sketches or creating wearable art! This led me to trading Fashion Design at Sheffield Hallam University where I discovered my love of creative pattern cutting and fashion illustration. I graduated with a First Class BA degree in Fashion Design and an award winning collection.

Since graduating I have delved into the world of fashion and graphic design but I found my true happiness in drawing. I’ve spent years honing my style and developing my skills in pencil drawing and digital experimentation. I try to have a relaxed and intuitive approach when creating my illustrations, which is great for when mistakes happen as I love working these into the piece or finding creative ways to cover them up!

I teach drawing and fashion illustration at Universities, encouraging experimental rendering and proportion techniques, fabric awareness and attention to detail. These sessions have inspired me to develop my style in a more creative direction and also to create educational material for others to learn from and work alongside me- watch this space!
